On settling in the return to Ascot handicap it was Quintessence, Lucy Warwick the early race leader Bombalatomba at odds was second Meticulously, third up from a spell was in third with the mischief's, Quite Regal whom played up before the gates opened, with the vet casting an eye, before allowing to run, was in fourth position with Don'tgetcaught out one of the fence travelling in fifth position.
Passing the 600m, Troy Turner asked his charge for an effort, with four runners in front of the Pearce prepared pairing, they looked for a more forward showing with a moderate clip in front of them, they decided to release the hold, Quintessence was still the race leader with Meticulously off its rump, Quite Regal was still forward on the fence in third with Bombalatomba about to be passed by Don'tgetcaught, as the field made their way to the turn with the preparation of the straight ahead.
Into the straight it was Quintessence the leader for most of the run, kicking two lengths clear, Don'tgetcaught was under the persuader down the outside with Turner trying to pick up that runner, however as they drew to the line it would be Quintessence holding on by around a half a length to Don'tgetcaught in second with the vet making the right decision on Quite Regal as he finished in the third division.
