The Ben Pearce Yard made the trip to Northam with Don’tgetcaught to compete in race six on the program in a 0 to 68 handicap over 2200 m with Ms Casey Hunter the pilot jumping from barrier six in a field of nine.

As the starter let them go in the XXXX Gold handicap it was Silver Minx given the leaders roll, Confianza was in second position a length behind the leading runner, Kenny’s Silver was on the rail in third position with Boutique one off the fence, Don’tgetcaught in the interim was between runners throwing the head about and climbing on the back of heals eager to get the job underway.

By the 800m marker Silver Minx was being challenged for the leadership by Confianza, Boutique had cruised up on the outside of Kenny’s Silver with the leading division of runners unchanged from the first call, Don’tgetcaught was traveling, albeit a little bit ungenerously with Casey keeping the five-year-old gelding under a tight grip.

Coming to the turn Confianza cruised up on the inside with Silver Minx, Toned was back towards the inside Boutique was still there, as Casey Hunter drove between runners allowing Don’tgetcaught the rein that he wanted from the outset, but was denied, by Hunter, as she cleverly saved up the runner for the concluding stages, & in doing so cleared away from the opposition to land the prize for connections by a length and a half to Scenic Lord with Ain’t Bad finishing strongly down the outside in third position.
