The Ben Pearce prepared Don’tgetcaught competed in a BM 72+ handicap at Belmont in race 4 on the card over 2100 m with Joe Azzopardi aboard jumping from barrier one.

As the line up left the barriers in the Melbourne Cup Tour Dinner August 9 over 2100m the first runner to land was for Verdello Blue, Andi’s Boy was second Don’tgetcaught was tugging for reign with Azzopardi trying to settle the runner down, Ready To Fire was fourth as the field passed the Riverside.

The nine-year-old Verdello Blue led around the side with Andi’s Boy giving it no peace, Don’tgetcaught was looking to make an appearance with Ready To Fire out wide as the runners headed into the straight.

Don’tgetcaught went out after the leader Verdello Blue trying to pick up the pace with the widest runner Ready To Fire there as well, try as they may it was all to no avail as the winner who turns 10 on Monday, August 1st, Verdello Blue landed the prize in advance of Ready To Fire with Don’tgetcaught finishing in third on this occasion.
