Jockey William Pike took to the saddle of the Ben Pearce prepared Don’tgetcaught in race five on the Belmont program with the BM 72+ handicap to be competed over 2200 m jumping from barrier nine in a field of eight.
Early in the Ian and Colleen Leggoe 50th Anniversary handicap, Ready To Fire led, Dust Me Off was second, Verdello Blue was tugging for more rein in third Savanarola was fourth with Don’tgetcaught in one of the fence with two runners behind it’s rump traveling via the riverside.
Passing the side in a rough house affair Verdello Blue led Dust Me Off, next was Sweet As Bro, with Pike looking for an out on his runner via the turn watching it all unfold as the bunching field headed for home.
Into the straight Pike was trying to get clear on Don’tgetcaught and via the 200m began to warm to the task, Material Man hit the lead with Don’tgetcaught trying hard, but as the final stages of the event played out, Dontgetcaught was unable to pick up Material Man, whom landed the prize for the Warwick’s, Don’tgetcaught finished in second, with Ready To Fire back on the rail in third.
