Race 7 on the Northam card saw Le Patron saddle up with Joe Azzopardi in charge to compete over the 1400m, event racing on a good (4).

When the field jumped in the fast track pitstop handicap over 1400 m the 1st to get going was Portonian, Le Patron kicked up inside the leader to sit second between runners, Do You Do sat handy with Card Knight in advance of Flirty Lady who was tucked back on the running rail in fifth position.

Sweeping to the turn Portonian led, Card Knight was between runners with Rancho Man unhappy with the tempo began to make ground on the outside, with Le Patron trailing that runner passing the cutaway point in the straight.

Out wide on the track though was the fresh horse on the scene, Black Aria whom gathered up momentum under the vigorous riding of Shaun O’Donnell to claim the final event on the Northam card, defeating Le Patron who was game in securing the second prize in advance of Card Knight in third.
