Shooting To Win mare Platinum Shot landed her sixth career win at Pinjarra Scarpside on Sunday when taking out the Country Comfort Racy Weekend Handicap (1400m).

Starting on the third line of betting at $5 with in-form apprentice Holly Nottle in the saddle, the five-year-old sprung the gates much quicker than at her previous start and was able to position up outside race-leader, So Nataya ($7), in running.

So Nataya gave a kick on straightening and momentarily looked the winner before Platinum Shot clawed back the margin and was able to hit the front passing the 100m mark.

She pulled away over the late stages to defeat Don’t Trust Judas ($3.70) by a three-quarter length, with So Nataya a further half-length away in third place.

Platinum Shot was having her third run back from a spell and put the writing on the wall for her victory with an encouraging third at Ascot on January 14 where she initially stepped slow but made good late ground.

The Yarradale Park-bred and part-owned mare has now had 31 career starts for six wins, 13 minor placings and $214,529 in total earnings.

Pearce Racing will saddle up Deepest Desire, Hello Veneta, Call Nick, Vampi Queena and Awarded Glory at Monday’s Australia Day meeting at Bunbury.
