Gingeriffic opened her winning account at the first meeting of the Geraldton season on Wednesday when taking out the TABtouch Maiden (1113m).

The Gingerbread Man three-year-old jumped a $9 chance from barrier two with Elisha Whittington aboard and settled four pairs back on the fence before hugging the rail on straightening and finishing powerfully.

Stablemate and race-favourite Celebrity Angel ($2.40) kicked away from the field approaching the 200m mark and looked the winner, however, Gingeriffic jumped out of the ground late to nab her by a nose on the line in a Pearce Racing quinella.

Black Cilla ($101) finished a further half-length away in third place.

Gingeriffic was having her third start back from a spell and has produced top-five finishes at each of her five career starts to date.

Meanwhile, fellow Pearce-trained galloper Under Influence finished a narrow third later on the program.

The Pearce stable will saddle-up a big team at Saturday’s Kalgoorlie Cup meeting, comprising of Exceltrain, Influencing, Galaxy Affair, Desert Edge, Kiralui, Decoration, Outspoken Lad and Under Influence.

Stablemates God’s Grin, Toronado Rocket and Prince are engaged to race at Northam on Sunday.
