The 2024/25 season has come to a close and Pearce Racing has celebrated another successful year, highlighted by its second Group 2 Karrakatta Plate triumph.

The stable produced 80 winners for the season, the second-highest overall tally in WA, whilst its 29 metropolitan winners ranked in the state’s top 10 yet again.

Total prize money of $3,565,082 was earned by Pearce Racing horses in the 2024/25 season, $457,070 of which was accumulated by the state’s leading two-year-old, Talkanco, who also pocketed an additional $50,600 in Westspeed Platinum bonuses.

The I’m All The Talk filly made a splash on debut when defeating the well-regarded Strideaway at Ascot in November before finishing second to the speedy Yes Queen in the $100,000 Crystal Slipper at her only other start of her first race preparation.

She returned with a slashing third placing in the $125,000 Listed Supremacy Stakes (1000m) the following March then turned the tables on rivals to take out both the $200,000 Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes (1100m) and the state’s premier two-year-old race, the $500,000 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m), to stake her claim as WA’s leading juvenile.

Veteran galloper, Ginger Baker, also tasted black type success for the stable when taking out the $125,000 Listed South West Cup (2200m) at Bunbury in July.

The Gingerbread Man seven-year-old putting the writing on the wall for his career-best win with a third placing in the $200,000 Group 3 Strickland Stakes (2000m) the start prior.

Other notable highlights include Triple Jay’s victories in the $100,000 Jockey Celebration Day Stakes (1400m) and $100,000 Blue Spec Stakes (1600m) at Belmont last August to cap off four-consecutive wins, as well as Madame Magic taking out the $100,000 WA Day Cup (1600m) at Northam in June.

Speedy Safeguard three-year-old, Sinful Living, won four races across the season, in addition to placings in both the $100,000 Max Simmonds Stakes (1000m) and $125,000 Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m).

The former $10,000 yearling purchase has taken her career record to 21 starts for six wins, five minor placings and $588,245 in total earnings.

Talkanco’s four-year-old half brother, Richanco, also won four races during the season, including a winning hat-trick to cap off a brilliant season for their dam, Calianco.

Other stablemates to have won at least three races during the season include Famous Dain, Decoration, Noble Connection, Platinum Shot and Rally The Troops.

Co-trainers Daniel and Ben Pearce have been very active at yearling sales throughout 2025 and acquired multiple higher-end yearlings as they continue their business strategy of building the stable with quality city-class gallopers.
