Let’s Twist wins the D’Orsogna Handicap at Belmont on Wednesday.

Staying mare Let’s Twist made light work of her rivals at Belmont on Wednesday when recording an impressive win.

The Statue Of Liberty five-year-old, who drifted from $2.80 to $3.70 in betting, was expertly ridden by Joseph Azzopardi in the D’Orsogna Handicap over 2000m.

After settling in the box-seat in running, Let’s Twist sprinted powerfully through an inside opening in the straight to score a two-and-a-quarter length victory over the fast-finishing Empyreus ($48.50).

Born Blue ($13.20) was a further neck away in third place.

The middle-distance event was only Let’s Twist’s third run so far this preparation and she looks capable of progressing through the staying ranks.

Stablemate Friarbird ($9.50) was racing second-up from a long spell when fourth in the same race.

Pearce Racing will saddle-up Pro Mutual, Ragno Rosso and Churches at tomorrow’s Pinjarra meeting.
