Pearce Racing’s good fortune on the track continued last week when stablemates Pacific Lady and Oly’s Choice saluted at York and Belmont respectively.
Both ridden by William Pike, Flying Artie mare Pacific Lady ($6.50) kicked off proceedings when taking out the Avon Valley Pools Handicap (1100m) first up from a spell at York on Thursday.
The four-year-old hadn’t raced for more than six months but extended her promising fresh record after winning on resumption at her last preparation as well.
Pike settled the mare one-out and one-back from barrier seven before edging into the clear on straightening and she responded to his hands-and-heels riding when cruising past the leaders at the 100m mark.
Native Flower ($5.50) finished second, beaten a length, with Elsa’s Pride ($7) a further head away in third place.
Pacific Lady has now won two of her eight career starts to date.
Meanwhile, in-form gelding Oly’s Choice ($2.40) brought up a winning hat-trick at Belmont on Saturday when landing another impressive victory in the WA Day Festival Sunday 2nd and Monday 3rd June Handicap (1600m).
The Demerit five-year-old jumped from barrier nine of 11 and was posted three-wide and without cover for the majority of the race, however, it mattered nil when he powered away to defeat Allez Allez ($5) by just under a length.
Knot Secret ($10) finished a further two-and-a-half lengths away in third place.
Oly’s Choice has now had 25 career starts for seven wins, six minor placings and $313,590 in stake earnings and Westspeed Platinum bonuses.
Pearce Racing has prepared 67 winners in the 2023/24 season to date which is the second highest tally in WA.
The stable will be represented by Striking Fella, Ultimate Deel and Deep Envy at Wednesday’s Belmont meeting.
