Real Impact four-year-old Madame Magic made a blistering return to racing at Pinjarra on Boxing Day when recording a breathtaking last-to-first victory in the TABtouch Handicap (1200m).
Starting the $3 second favourite in her first race since July, the mare was still a clear last approaching the 200m mark before unleashing an incredible final furlong to round up her rivals in a matter of strides and score by two lengths pulling away.
Race-favourite No Peer ($2.15) finished in second place, with Rommel’s Angel ($16) a further three-quarter length away third.
The devastating win was reminiscent of Madame Magic’s race debut at Ascot on Melbourne Cup day in November 2022 when she displayed an impressive turn of foot from back in the field to win but her past 12 months has been littered with mishaps and unsuitably-soft tracks during winter.
Purchased by Pearce Racing for $40,000 at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale for a stable client, Madame Magic has now had eight career starts for two wins and a second placing and appears to have Saturday-class potential.
Meanwhile, stablemates Oly’s Choice and Let’s Galahvant both ran slashing races at Pinjarra when finishing second and third respectively.
Play With Desire and Under Influence will represent the in-form Pearce stable at Wednesday’s Geraldton meeting.
