Iron horse Let’s Galahvant further enhanced his reputation as one of WA’s most durable gallopers when taking out the $125,000 Listed Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on Saturday.
Having the 15th start of an outstanding preparation, the former $10,000 yearling purchase boosted his career earnings to $624,760 including bonuses courtesy of his third victory at Listed level.
The Galah five-year-old started on the fourth line of betting at $6.50 before being settled one-out and two-back by rider Chris Parnham and the duo finished powerfully to run over the top of race-favourite Magnificent Andy ($3.90) to score by a neck.
Vast Art ($6.50) finished a further length away in third place.
Let’s Galahvant took out the Listed Northam Cup (1600m) last month and the Listed Hannans Handicap 13 months prior that and has now had 33 career starts for a remarkable 10 wins and nine minor placings.
Meanwhile, stablemates Black Fantasy and Queen Alina finished third and fourth respectively in the Listed AJ Scahill Cup (2100m) on the same day and remain firmly on track for a tilt at the $1 million Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) on January 1.
