Pearce Racing will be looking to score back-to-back wins in the Boulder Cup at Kalgoorlie tomorrow.

Ben Pearce won the $100,000 listed race for the first time with Don’tgetcaught last year.

Ben and brother Daniel, the state’s leading trainers with 14 winners so far this season, have Pushin’ Shapes enaged in this year’s edition of the 2100m feature event.

The winner of last season’s Narrogin Cup has been set specifically for the race and looks primed after a huge effort in the Coolgardie Cup (1760m) last start.

The Viscount five-year-old settled last in the 15-horse field but finished powerfully to record the fastest final-600m sectional of the race and finish just one-length fourth to Bollywood Blitz.

He meets his rival two kilograms better at the weights tomorrow as well as being suited by the rise in distance, however, he’ll have to overcome an awkward gate in barrier 10.

Joseph Azzopardi retains the mount.

Meanwhile, former eastern states galloper A Private Party will also travel to the Goldfields to have his first start for the Pearce stable.

The Zedative seven-year-old has won six times from 38 starts and wasn’t asked for much of an effort when beaten four-and-a-quarter lengths behind Whispering Brook in a recent Lark Hill trial.

The gelding will line up in the Yarradale Stud Tom Sayers Memorial Handicap (1100m) with Jarrad Noske aboard and looks to have solid claims jumping from barrier four in the eight-horse field.
