Speed demon Acromantula was back to his best at Ascot on Saturday when producing a dominant display in the TABtouch – Better Your Bet Handicap (1000m).
Backed from $4.40 into $3 second favouritism, the Written Tycoon five-year-old jumped straight to the lead for apprentice Luke Campbell before railing like a greyhound on straightening and bounding away from his rivals.
The gelding beat race-favourite Beads ($2.80) by two lengths in a slick time of 00:57:54, with a further long neck back to Kia Ora Star ($10) in third place.
Acromantula has now has 16 career starts for six wins, five minor placings and $313,110 in stake earnings and bonuses.
Each one of the track-and-distance specialist’s top-three finishes have been at the Ascot 1000m circuit.
Meanwhile, stablemate Galaxy Affair ran a fast-finishing second in the Quayclean Plate (1400m) at Saturday’s Ascot meeting.
The Peace yard have Triple Jay, Grece Lightning and Outspoken Lad engaged at Pinjarra today.
